Sometimes it is very difficult to replace old application specific equipment. However, updating the equipment can provide an excellent solution. This was demonstrated by replacing the aged measurement system on this Weber Length Gage with a Renishaw scale system and Heidenhain readout.

To increase their inspection capability this company needed a large CMM to inspect turbine engine components.
This machine was totally reconditioned and retrofitted with Renishaw scales and UCC controller.

A dual laser system was mounted to the telescope to determine structural deformation of the telescope. The as the mass was tilted through its travel the anglular and linear change was recorded. Testing was completed through the night to minimalize thermal change.
